Violence Intervention Program (VIP): Was founded in an effort to protect and treat all victims of family violence and sexual assault. For over 30 years VIP has been executing and expanding that vision. Prior to 1984, the Los Angeles area was a very different place for a child who had been physically or sexually abused. Victims were “diagnosed” as having been abused, and were then tossed into the child welfare system with few resources or support. Support programs cover the spectrum from Child Abuse, to Adult, Elderly and LGBTQ needs in Los Angeles County. More at: violenceinterventionprogram.org

PLAYWRIGHT’S NOTE
"The Shot grew from writing my book about Katharine Graham, and trying to understand the intimate partner violence she endured. Abuse of any kind against women is deeply connected to the cultural failure to embrace women’s full equality. I hope the play will help women who are abused to feel less alone in their suffering and struggle. I hope it will help everyone understand that violence against women must end. While The Shot is based on Katharine Graham’s life, the intimate details grew from many interviews with women who had the courage to share their stories with me, and I’m sincerely grateful." - Robin Gerber
