Synopsis: In the midst of his failing marriage, the fictional playwright of this piece, is compulsively driven to find a theatrical way to share the story of Dr. J. Marion Sims, America's "Father of Gynecology", and how the doctor developed his tools and techniques through surgical experimentation on black women slaves in the 1840's.
The play is comprised of three distinctly different interwoven monologues; one is delivered by the Playwright, in contemporary time; the second is by Dr. J. Marion Sims, to an audience of New York doctors in 1855; and the third is delivered by the young slave girl, Anarcha, who was Dr. Sims' most frequent surgical subject between 1845 and 1849.
